Questions

Before you start

What is covered, how the marking works, and what happens after a test.

Which GATE papers are covered?

Whatever this installation has loaded — the list above is read straight from the catalogue. A paper is a catalogue entry plus a question bank, so adding one needs no code change. You follow up to two papers, as GATE allows, and every screen scopes to them.

Are these real previous year questions?

The bank ships with GATE-pattern questions written for this seed — the real topics, difficulty and question-type mix, but not verbatim reproductions of official papers. An institute running this imports its own bank, and the importer matches on a stable id so re-importing updates questions in place.

What is the difference between PYQ and Original?

PYQ is the archive of questions as they were asked. Original is everything written to the same pattern that has never appeared in a paper. The split is hard everywhere: a PYQ test never draws an original question, and Practice lists them separately.

Does it match the real exam interface?

Section tabs, the question palette, mark for review, the countdown, an on-screen calculator and rough work. One deliberate difference: selecting an option records it immediately rather than waiting for Save & Next — losing an answer to a mis-click is not a skill worth practising.

How is negative marking handled?

Exactly as GATE has it: −1/3 on a wrong 1-mark MCQ and −2/3 on a 2-mark one. MSQ and NAT carry none. The rule is stated before you start, and an institute can switch it off for a particular paper.

Can I sit a test more than once?

A test, as many times as you like — every attempt is kept in full and the leaderboard ranks your best. A live exam is one sitting, which is what makes its result worth comparing.

Can I review after a test?

Every attempt has a question-by-question review — the solution, your answer, the marks awarded, the time you took against the field, and the discussion. You can filter it to what you got wrong, skipped, or spent too long on.
